Adult Children of Alcoholics - Step 6


6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.


In order for the trapeze artist to get to the other trapeze, he must let go of the one he's holding onto. He cannot hang onto both.

So too must we be ready to let go of our behaviors that served us to a degree but limit us from going beyond where we already are and stop us from having the life we truly want. The action of Step 6 is to get yourself adjusted to the idea that you don't need your current trapeze bar and can reach out and grab the new one.
