Working and skipping steps

I have never formally worked the steps.  I have lived with alcoholism and co-dependency for many years.  I feel as if my situation is not too bad because I do have a higher power that helps me.  I feel as if I have been through all these steps in one way or another, but I dont feel as if I have completed them.  I dont feel as if I have been restored to sanity.  Step one was a stumbling block for many years.  There was always someone inside here shouting "you are not powerless, there are many things you can do."  I think I have just gained new perspective on step one.  While there are many things I did and could do, I didnt do it alone.

Now I am stuck on step two.  I find so many things unacceptable.  How long am I supposed to stay on a step I feel stuck on?  How do I know when to move on to the next one?  Will it help to find a sponsor and formally work the steps?  Is that the only solution?  Could I find a sponsor online?  There are no face to face meetings in our area.

Alia It would certainly help to find a sponsor and work the steps with a partner .I suggest you read over the shares on this Board on Steps 1, 2 ,3, and 4 and possibly you will receive an answer to your questions .
