Humbly Asked Him to Remove Our Defects

C2C page 142.:   When I take the seventh step I  humbly ask for help. I don't make a demand. I simply  open myself up. I have no one to impress. I'm simply accepting my place in my relationship with my Higher Power. No more, no less. True humility should not be humiliating. Humility is said to be perpetual quietness of the heart. Knowing   that I do my part and trust God to take care of the rest. Although I may not know how it will turn out I choose to remain  serene and to ask HP for help

My Share

My sponsor pointed out that no where in working  the Steps do we ever ask HP to give us anything  The reason for this is that all we will ever need to have a great life, and to live with courage, serenity and wisdom are already available within each of us.  We have covered these lovely assets with our negative destructive habits.  That is all we are asking HP  to remove.

Powerful thoughts and oh so true

Step 7 questions

1.  What are your fears about becoming changed?  Write about them.  Or talk about them with another person.

2.  How have you already seen yourself changed?

How much of this did you actually have to do?

How much were you empowered to do?  Reflect on the gradual, natural nature of change in your life.

3.  Writing letters are a favorite tool of mine.  Write a letter to God, as you understand God.  In that letter, talk about what bothers you and what you would like to see changed about you.  Ask God to help you change those things in yourself and your life that needs changing.

4.  If in doubt about what character defects to work on now, ask God to show you clearly what issues in your life would be improved if you would work the Sixth and Seventh Steps on them.

5.  Do a creative visualization about yourself.  Visual in your mind yourself as you would like to become.  See yourself doing and being all that you would like to do and be.  Then let it go.  Come back to now.  Affirm that who you are is good.  Affirm self-acceptance and self-love for yourself in the present moment.
