Meaning "Affected" means "impacted, created an effect on, changed in a certain way." "Effected" means "executed, brought about, produced something."

Infected means: to affect or contaminate (a person, organ, wound, etc.) with disease-producing germs.

to taint or contaminate with something that affects quality, character, or condition unfavorably:
to infect the air with poison gas.

to corrupt or affect morally:

I guess all three words would apply to this diseae as it acts on the family and friends

I searched all three words for an extended period of time and could not get out of my head on which was the best.

So I appreciate your rescuing response.
