Step Ten is a daily committment to our healing, life-affirming process. We continue to examine ourselves and our lives, focusing not only on our errors and our shortcomings, but also on our successes, our improvements, and our gifts. We acknowledge the areas in which we are changing and make adjustments as we grow. This process allows us to connect, to bring ourselves more fully to our relationships. It serves as an ongoing reminder that we are not really so different from one another. As we treat ourselves with honesty and compassion, we become capable of extending such treatment to others. We recognize that change doesn't happen overnight and that, in recovery as in much of life, we often take one step back for every two steps forward.

The words in this post that jump our at me are "our gifts".
The gift of a Higher Power - of a family of choice who support me even when I stumble - to know myself and in learnng about myself to know that I am right where I need to be - that it's ok to say no - that I'm not responsible for anyone but myself - that my Higher Power wants me to be happy, joyous and free and if I live my program for myself and leave others to live theirs, I can be happy, joyous and free.
Doing a daily inventory at night helps me to check my thoughs, my actions and my reactions for that day. Have I allowd old thinking to cause me problems. It also prepares me for making prompt amends when needed.

thanks Dot nice share. Yes I see the programme unfolding in similar way as we learn to take better care of ourselves and do what is right for us and how that sometimes is helpful to others too . A gentle process of ' handing over ' what we can't manage not necessarily a religious thing , but things that are not yet solved might resolve in time through the programme . Like many members for instance my home was a mess and it gradually improved almost of it's own accord !

"Every day I can look to myself and decide what improvement I can make. How can I grow today ? What can I do by day's end to improve myself ? Is there something I can learn ? Is there some challenge I can meet ? Is there some old tired fear I can walk through and be rid of ? Is there some new happiness I can experience ? Step Ten reminds me to be honest with myself , acknowledging my mistakes and recognizing opportunities to grow today"

Step 10 DAILY INVENTORY
WHen we retire at night we constructively review our day were we resentful, selfish, dishonest, or afraid.
WE CONTINUED TO TAKE PERSONAL INVENTORY AND WHEN WE ARE WRONG PROMPTLY ADMITTED IT.
Who in there right or wrong mind likes to admit defeat that they are wrong when they are wrong. Most of us don't like it! We always want to be right even if we are wrong. To be in admission of our liabilities isn't fun. But it is necessary. My will glaring me in my face and in yours doesn't ever look facinating or pretty. As a matter of fact a liars face starts to look similar to pinocchios nose. Unflattering, and you can spot one a mile away. Fear is my
Worst enemy so I am 99% Fear in my Liability column today. Hopefully I will suceed at a better score on my behavior tomarrow. Courage being the higest possible asset.
I am humbled when in Recovery I can check my Liabilities along with my Assets and give an Honest appraisal of my day. Praising GOd again for another day Sober in Recovery. Lord I ask you to please show me your Mercy and your Grace so I can give you an HONEST Accounting of today. Praise you! (In Jesus Name Amen, ( My Higher Power)
My inventory sheet looks similar to this one:
90-100%=A 80-89%=B 70-79%=C 60-69%=D 59%-below F
(my will) (Gods will) LIABILITIES/ / ASSETS
% ANGER % CALM CRITIZING/ LOOK FOR THE GOOD DISHONESTY /HONESTY DOUBT/ FAITH ENVY /GRATEFUL FALSE PRIDE /SIMPLICITY FRIGHTENED /COURAGE GLUTTONY /MODERATION GREEDY /GIVING OR SHARING HARMFUL ACTS/ GOOD DEEDS RESENTMENT/ FORGIVENESS tHE LIST IS ALOT LONGER THAN THIS BUT I AM GETTING TIRED NOW.
