STEP 12: Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried to carry this message to others and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
Ideas from literature on how to carry the message....
CARRY THIS MESSAGE (con't):
In EA literature it is suggested that anyone can practice 'carrying the message' in their program.
Here are some of the suggestions from the "EMOTIONS ANONYMOUS" book:
(pg 80) "Everyone has something to contribute. Anyone can begin working this part of Step Twelve in small ways very early in the program and thus, experience the rewards of being involved in the EA community."
The suggestions include service at meetings, by simply attending, or by sharing, or by helping with setup or welcoming new people. By chairing. By collecting group donations, or helping with literature. Taking a position of service for the group, or in intergroup. Writing articles for the EA magazine. Simply by getting involved with EA group activities in ways that 'work for', are suitable or 'expand' oneself while in service to others.
excerpts for Emotions Anonymous book:
PRACTICE THESE PRINCIPLES
(pg 81) ".....Some of these principles are acceptance, honesty, open-mindedness, willingness, patience, humility, compassion, courage, selflessness, and spirituality. In reality, none of us may ever master these principles perfectly, but these give us ideals to strive towards. After we have been in the program for some time, these principles become second nature to us.......
Each of us creates our own daily plan for practicing the Twelve Steps. We need to continue using the whole program, not just choosing the easier steps. ...This twelve-stpe progrma only works for us when we choose to work it......
If we become complacent about using the program, we often find that our old thoughts, attitudes and behaviors return......We have to use the principles of the program diligently for as long as we want recovery.......
We use the tools of the program - meetings, phone calls, slogans, Just for Tdoays, EA Literature, the steps, inventories, prayer , and meditation - to (continually or return to) practicing the principles...."
IN ALL OUR AFFAIRS:
(pg 82) "This is a program about living a new way of life. WE do not just talk about it once a week at meetings. It is a program for living well twenty-four hours a day wherever we are."
