Step Five - Admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
1. How have I isolated myself?
2. Do I believe that sharing with anoher person can lead to relief from isolation?
3. What is the one thing I don't want to tell another person? Can I start there?
4. Can I remember when another person admitted a fault or mistake to me and I didn't judge?
Have a great day everyone - looking forward to your tho'ts - Love - dot Thanks John for posting for me.
When I did my 5th step the things that bro't me shame and guilt I shared first thinking that would be the end of our relationship. When my sponsor hugged me and told me I'd be ok, the rest was easy. That was the beginning of recovering myself and realizing that life could be as good as I chose to make it. Love - Dot

hi Dot and everyone , thanks , yes this programme can help to move us out of isolation . I chose this quote to illustrate the importance of picking the right people to trust . There are many others like it . Step 6 can also help to apply ourselves more conscientiously to our own lives if that was something we had deviated from ,

" Once we had decided on a dependable person , we tried to make our communiciation as open and honest as possible . There was much more to this than just presenting a list our our shortcomings ; frank and detailed explanations were needed ; how we felt about these faults , instances of how others responded to what we did , and so on . We found this telling and explaining far more natural and easy , if we were able to avoid feelings of guilt . After all , the faults we described were those we were not even aware of before we began our effort at self-improvement . We tried to refrain from passing judgment , even on ourselves "

1. How have I isolated myself? Most of my communication is limited to what is necessary for daily living. It is difficult for me to pick up the phone and call a fellow Al-Anon. This is something I hope to work on because it is time for me to stop being a hermit and start showing concern for others.
2. Do I believe that sharing with another person can lead to relief from isolation? Yes, sharing my experience, strength and hope can help someone who is going through a lot of pain and agony to feel better.
3. What is the one thing I don't want to tell another person? Wishful and obsessive thinking occupies so much of my time that could be used to accomplish something. Can I start there? Admitting to ruminating instead of achieving anything is pretty embarrassing. It would be helpful for others who might be doing the same thing.
4. Can I remember when another person admitted a fault or mistake to me and I didn't judge? I dont judge people who share in meetings. I listen to them and learn about the way they handle situations. It is therapeutic for me to realize that even though people look normal on the outside, they are going through complicated and comlpex problems and working out solutions
