"Having had a spiritual awakening as the results of these steps, we tried to carry this message and to practice these principles in all our affairs."
Step 12 is often thought to be 'gratitude in actions'. If we are grateful for our new way of life, for our serenity, than it's important to express that gratitude. Some programs emphasis the idea that in order to 'keep it you must give it away'.
Participation at meetings, sponsoring new comers, walking the walk in our daily lives, these are all examples I have been given for 'gratitude in actions' by those who have come before me in Program....like the wonderful fellow who, upon hearing me sobbing at the other end of the phone, said he would come pick me up and take me to an emotions anonymous meeting the next day....and he did.......thank God!!
For the people in that room who allowed me to do and be just how I needed to be for nearly an entire year before I 'got' even a sense of serenity....I think I sobbed at a lot of meetings and just sat and listened.....no judgement, just support and a willingness to carry on with their own stuff and let me deal with mine.....what a gift that was.....
sharing on various loops......
supporting my International HQ financially......
doing 'service' work......
These are all things I have the 'option' to do in Service and just by living my Program one day at a time I am also 'living proof' of how Program works....and I find the more service I do the better 'grounded' I am......
