Hi this is Samuel and I am an alcoholic. Generally I am a happy-go-lucky sort of guy, but at times I just get so 'full' of people. Let me explain it like this; - I go to the shop and buy 2 litres of ice cream, take it home, open the lid and eat the whole contents of the container. Hence I would be so full of ice cream and I would not be feeling so good. All I would want to do is go to a place and lay down. I would not want to be interacting with anyone. So my life is like this at the moment, I work in close relations with people and I am so 'full'. Full of their negitivity and foul mouths. I am just full. Can anyone relate to what I am saying? Your comments are most welcome.

Welcome Samuel, I'm glad you have posted. I understand what you mean, there are times I have to just be alone. If I don't have my alone time I start to become unreasonable and unhappy. Sometimes I get in the car and just start driving, or I take a long walk.
Have you found the other boards? Please post on the Alcoholic board also.

yep, I can relate. The Bible says that Jesus got like that too, and went off to be alone sometimes to recollect himself and to pray. This balances us. Negativity drains us, and when we make a retreat we let God fill us.

Hi Samuel - Welcome. People and situations do get on our nerves at times.
Why not try al-anon. The acceptance that Al-anon taught me for the a is helping me to be more tolerant in all aspects of my life.
Keep coming back.
Love in recovery - Dot

Good mornig Dot and thank you for your post to me. I am an active member of AA in Brisbane, Australia. Al-anon is a wonderful recovery group I am sure, however, I am happy to be with AA just for now.
