What is the ettiquite for getting a sponsor?   I have been working the steps without one, and there are definitely times that I think it would be nice to have one, and/but I do not know who/how I would get or find one.

you do not have to do this alone! in fact i would say one CANT do it alone. etiquette/, simply listen at meetings for someone who you can identify with, or even as simple as they say things you like or can relate to. Introduce yourself, tell then you are working the steps, ask them if they have worked the steps, and usually a simple "would you be willing to be my sponsor?" is very effective. there are really only 2 ways to get somewhere: blindly going forward and hoping that you will get to where you need to be or ask someone coming back the same road, for they have been where you want to go and often know the way. this is a sponsor to me. good luck with your search, may it be quick and fruitfull.welcome. pharmacy fred.

O.K. Sounds good. But I'm not going to meetings...don't know what kind of meeting I would go to if I did. I used to attend all kinds of meetings: NA, AA, CO. They do not actually describe me, but I believe that these steps can help. I always felt that the substance abuse element of the program (I am not an addict, nor an alcoholic) is not fundamental to it working. Anyway, I have a "not sponor" who would be my sponsor, if I were an alcoholic. I am alone. Yeah, feeling a bit isolated, in spite of her best efforts. We just did step #5. I am sore. I don't know what I would say to her - or a sponsor - if I called, although she let me know that I could if I wanted to. Jules

I have problems socially, so I just made myself call every females number that was given to me.  I found a nice woman that was willing to sponsor me by announcing in a meeting that I was afraid if I didnt find a sponsor, Id pick up.  Drastic, but it worked.
