Step Eleven - Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
I don't know how good I am with Step Eleven. I don't pray or meditate very much.I don't believe in a particular religion, but I do believe in the God of my understanding.
Sometimes it's the Al-Anon tables - sometimes Good Orderly Direction and sometimes an inner peace that I have when I ask for Help.
In the morning, on my knees, I ask for another 24 hours of serenity and for guidance for that day. Lately I've been adding - what can I do for you today?
Each night I do my Tenth Step inventory and say thank you for the last 24 hours.
At anytime during my day that life gets tough, I stop and say Help - and mentally ask myself, Is this something I can change or control?
And help comes - sometimes in a telephone call to an al-anon friend or my sponsor - or maybe I am able to quiet my mind for the few minutes I use to ask for help and because of that I am able to see my way more clearly.
