Step Twelve - Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried to carry this message to others, and to practice these principals in all our affairs.
From the PampHlet - The Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions.(copyrght 1995, by Al-Anon Family Group Headquarters, Inc., Limited use by express written permission of Al-Anon Family Group Headquarters, Inc.)
Spiritual awakening may come as the result of all these Steps. Each Step grows out of the one before. If we are to try to help others, we must first make the Steps a part of ourselves. We can never give what we haven't got. Carrying the message to others is one of the greatest rewards of the Al-Anon program. To lead another person from despair to hope and love blesses us in return. Our spiritual growth is unlimited and our reward endless if we try to bring this program into every phase of our daily lives.

Learning to work the steps has brought a spiritual awakening in me. Continuing to practice the steps to the best of my ability and help others to find their own spiritual awakening through the steps brings ever deeper understanding of what this program has to offer. All the promises that our literature offers have come true for me, and I see it coming true for those around me who are working the program. Hugs, Magic

Spiritual awakenings for me have been moments when I realized "there was not one more thing I could do--I was powerless". I also, felt "my pain was so great, it would lead to a path of greater pain, and a more downward path, and who wants to go on a suicidal route?" I guess a Light Bulb Moment in time.
I also have had incoming messages from my Creator guiding me. I also have had moments when I have felt "enough is enough" from the alcoholic, and negativity in life. Something had to change. The change had to first begin with me (and I knew it!)
For me working the last part of Step 12 means, helping out at meetings, and sharing my Experience, Strength, and Hope with those at meetings. I am all too wlling to listen to those phone calls at odd times. I once was totally lost in the fog, but is pretty clear these days!
