Welcome!!!
My name is Wendy, a drug addicted alcoholic in recovery.
If you think you have a problem with alcohol and you have a desire to stop, you're in the right place!!!
The best place to begin is step 1.
We admitted we are powerless over alcohol and that ou lives had become unmanageable.
Have you tried an AA meeting? Got yourself a Big Book?
Be proud that you are here, Life is worth living, clean and sober!!
You're worth the fight!!
There is a message board here as well, you might want to check out.
Keep coming back, you are the most important person as a newcomer.
Sorry, not me but a close friend is an alcoholic and I hate seeing him destroy himself and I don;t know how to deal with it.

Hi...welcome,
If someone's drinking is affecting your life than al-anon is the place to get help. I hope you will read the step one post for al-anon and the shares on step one. And, like Wendy suggests,a face to face meeting will let you know that you are not alone...other people have alcoholics they care about and can't seem to help. Al-anon will help you.
Oh,yeah...I'm cheri, an alcoholic. My husband has been sober for 15 yrs, but me only 4. He went to al-anon for awhile, too.
Love, cheri

so lost - glad you found us. Sorry I'm so late answering you - I've been away a few days.
You are in the right place. I was married to an a for alot of years and nothing I did helped him to get sober or stay sober. But al-anon gave me the tools to help myself. I learned I couldn't change the a but I could change my reaction to him which helped both of us. For one thing when I didn't react we didn't fight.
Find some meetings in your area - you'll find instant understanding, love and friendship. We also have on-line meetings on this site.
Hopefully we'll have more shares on this board on the First Step so keep coming back
Love and hugs - Dot.
