Thanks for the chance to share.
I was wondering how we could tell when we were on Step 12.
I guess it was when we are attracting newcomers, and being good role models. For me this happens mostly inside of the groups I belong to.
Step 12 Questions
Have I experienced a Spiritual Awakening?Describe
Recently I have felt deep gratitude to have survived and to have gotten this far. I had some epiphanies some time ago- turning points- that got me to this stage.
At the moment I am expressing gratitude when I don't have issues to share. And seeing where this leads me.
What are the different ways I can carry the Message?
By example. By outreach. I went to the funeral of the mother of a former member of our group. I spoke but did not mention the programme at all. But she knew I was there for her and the family.
How can I recognize a cry for help without meddling in others affair?
hmmm instinct, experience, knowing how well I know the person...
How can I carry the message to others in my family?
By example.
What are these principles?
Ethics, guided by a loving caring higher power... discerning what to do, and when. Taking time to listen to others, keeping in touch.
How can I apply them in my life?
One day at a time.
How am I living the program?
One day at a time.
How am I a Good example of alanon recovery-
I know when I need help, most of the time. I have networks and resources to meet my own needs.
I need others.
Thanks Betty

Have I experienced a Spiritual Awakening?
My spiritual awakening happened at my weakest moment, naked and sobbing in my bathtub. Suddenly denial lifted, and I became very aware of my own behaviors which had caused pain for others and myself. I remember being so humbled, so sorry, and so in need of forgiveness. It was in that moment, when I asked God to help me, that I was able to be gentle with myself and others, knowing God was in charge and would help me heal.
What are the different ways I can carry the Message? How can I carry the message to others in my family? How can I apply them in my life? How am I living the program?
These all hit on the same theme for me. I can carry the message to others by living the Al Anon principles. I pray the serenity prayer with my children. I quote Slogans when my friends and family get upset or negative and want me to join in their misery. I actively try to find the silver lining and prompt my children to do the same. I take time to care for myself and encourage others to do the same.
How can I recognize a cry for help without meddling in others affair?
I still have issues with this. Progress, not perfection, right? I'd love for my mom and daughters to be more involved in Al Anon, but they are not receptive. So, I just have to Live and Let Live, rather than try to force solutions which don't work.
