The first step of problem solving is knowing what the problem is. By admitting the exact nature of your wrongs, acknowledge your issues and can begin to heal and to grow from there.
But it's not enough to know it. You have to make it "real" by telling someone else. Then you can be fully liberated from the issues of the past.
Find a sponsor or a safe person and begin the healing.

It does not HAVE to be a member of the group nor your sponsor. IF you 5th Step (which is the details or exact nature) contains data that includes criminal activity for which the statute of limitations has not expired..or for which there is none.. etc.; a professional member of the clergy or a therapist or professional counselor may be used.
