I am reading today from "Alanon's Twelve Steps &Twelve Traditions" [Alanon 1981].
This is a three stage process. Getting things right with our higher power, moving from denial to acceptance within ourselves, and putting it out there.
These days, especially in the USA we high expect to complete this step with a sponsor. In the day this other human being could be a therapist, a pastor or a trusted member of the community.
Step 10 is the clear up and checking up step to follow this one. A maintenance step.
In my view doing these vital steps should be easy- and a relief to the mind. letting go of old stuff.
Steps 6 and 7 following are helpful- and essential.
