Tradition 9 Our groups, as such, ought never be organized; but we may create service boards or committees directly responsible to those they serve.
One of the silver linings of this pandemic is that Ive been able to attend Al Anon meetings not only all over my start, but also all over my country and even a few outside of my country. While there might be small differences, each group is run just like each other group. They all use the same opening. They all use the same serenity prayer etc. Ive become aware that service position terms are one item that is voted on and so might be different from meeting to meeting. Whether or not a timer is used for shares is another area that might differ meeting to meeting.
I was and am still always in awe of how each service position is handled by the person in that position with no guidance from others. Instead I constantly hear youre doing a great job
Tradition 9 is a wonderful reminder to me that we are each unique individuals who deserve the dignity to do the best we can without criticism or judgement.
Anyone else have thoughts on tradition 9?

When last in the USA I attended meetings, one in NYC, and several in Rapid City, SD.
There were subtle differences- and strengths i was able to bring back to NZ.
Alanon continues to give me new and healthy boundaries. In this group MIP Alanon I take group issues
to the various leaders- to get perspective. Rather than trying to make it a group issue- straight up.
I am not always clear where changes are needed. Sometimes right, and sometimes wrong. But that
is a great learning thing. A growth thing.
Thanks so much for your service here, Audrey.
