I'm Mike and I'm an alcoholic in Boston, MA. Is this board only for Al-anon or is it for alcoholics too? I'd love to participate but don't want to violate the integrity of the board. I've been sober 10 years and am looking for a good online step site. Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike,
We'd love to have you join us on this board.
Each 12 Step group on Miracles In Progress, can have a member of their group post a lead in regards to the current step that is being addressed on the board. If you would be willing to take on this piece of service work for the benefit of the AA's that visit it, that would be great. We do one step every two weeks, so it would not be very time consuming if you have the willingness to help in this area.
Right now, the StepWork board is on Step One. So, to start an AA lead for it, you would just title your post "Step One - AA" and then you can share from your own experience, strenght and hope, "what it use to be like, what happened, what its like now, or just define how you worked step one, or what you suggest to sponsees to work step one.
After having posted this on the board, you peek at it from time to time, to see if anyone has any questions, thoughts or feelings regarding it, and reply to them from AA's perspective.
This board allows us to also, view how other 12 steppers apply the 12 Steps in their lives, activities, relationships, situations, etc. You are welcome to interact on any of the other group leads as well, but the lead for that step is done by a active member of the targeted group.
I do hope to see you actively participating on this board, as we could really use a strong AA member to take the lead in helping newcomer AA's get familar with the steps, and interact with them from the place of long sobriety and recovery so they can get the message of AA.
Yours In Recovery,
John

I am happy to be able to post. I've recently thought of a simple analogy for me to see powerlessness. I had a flashlight, no matter how many times I flipped the switch it wouldn't go on. Finally, after several tries I did check and there were no batteries. It didn't have the right equipment to work. So, it is for me. I've been in Al-anon for 4 months and am beginning to recover from a lifetime of flipping on the switch and being fearful and frustrated that life wasn't working. Thanks for letting me share.:

Thank you for this board and the opportunity to share starting at Step 1.....your invitation came at a perfect time John.
I'm ML and powerless over my emotions...I am so enjoying shares from others who actively work AA, Alanon, and/or any other 12 Step group.....it's very helpful to me as a member of EA.....it reminds me that some of my control issues are about my "history" and are often the underlying motivation for current behaviors that sometimes baffle me if I don't remember the source.
I grew up in a very functional A environment with 2 extreme controllers......lol......and also was a 'hidden' child of divorce in a blended new family.......so it's interesting what I learned but it's so helpful to review it by reading about other's recovery stories - sharing experience, hope and strength. Perspective is a blessing. Particularly other people's perspectives.
I work fairly exclusively on my Emotions Anonymous Program, knowing that now it is about me relearning and/or remodelling and/or just 'accepting' my own emotional behaviors with HP's help and Program guidance. There is also a genetic 'link' in our family to depression, I suspect most of my A's were self-medicating. I am married to a highly functional A..how interesting..lol....and I swear I had no idea (blindfolded by my own hand).
I certainly benefit when I attend ACOA, Coda or an open AA meeting. In the past there was no EA fellowship here, so I am grateful for those other open meetings that were available, welcomed me and helped me begin my recovery journey.
So this forum is wonderful!
Thank you all for your shares, your commitment and your honesty everyone........
