Step Ten Questions

Step Ten - Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.

1. How can I admit my wrong despite my pride and fear that it will be used against me?

2. Did I abandon my own needs today? How?

3. What small things can I do to practice standing up for myself?

4. Is there something that I need to take a longer look at? What is it?

Love and hugs - Dot

I am new here and have many things i do not understand. Establishing Al-Anon groups in my country is at the beginning and there is only maybe two ACoA groups that are far away from my town. I need this group very much and I am glad I found you. I hope my mail will be understanable, couse my

The one thing I have a big problem with, are my emotions. How can I standing up for myself? After I try it, i feel so bad- very guilty, shaky, nereveous,anxious... I know it is a part of my recovery-building the healthy boundaries, but i found it very difficult and unable to overcome the emotions and thoughts that come with. The other day I stood up for myself, i did not do something i was asked, couse i felt very tired and after that I felt as I should run away and never come back. Is this something you mean standing up for myself? But I want and will keep coming back, back to this board, to myself to understand better what is giong on in my mind and body, and back to others , even when I feel like this. I want to be healthy some much!!!!!!!!
Thanks for listening me. EveB

Thanks EveB for your comments.  I am from a large family.  I am one of the youngest.  We are all adults now, in our 50's but I've not become brave enough to stand up for myself with some of my older siblings.  Sometimes I give myself a break, I'm gentle with myself and say I don't have to stand up unless I want.  Some of my older sibs get very angry if I disagree.  I mean disagree with a real attitude, belief.  They feel threatoned.  I don't fight every battle any more.  I save my energy.
I wish you the best.

Step Ten Questions

1. Pray first then open your mouth and TRUTH pops out. An Apology or asking Forgiveness
2. No, I needed to "REST." I Rested!
3. Set Boundaries. Stay away from Slippery people places and things. These may even be your own family.
4. I always need to take a look at "My Daily Inventory" from Step 10. Was I in Gods Will or Mine.
