STEP 7 - EMOTIONS ANONYMOUS

Step 7 : "Humbly ask Him to remove our shortcomings"

In step 6 I become acutely aware of my defects and I begin to develop a willingness to 'let them go'.....my 'shortcomings' are my actions caused by my character defects (as my EA book describes it).......I like the humble part of how this step is described in the EA book.....

"As we progress in the program we learn what humility is. The origin of the word humble is humus, meaning soil or ground. Humility is having our feet planted firmly on the ground, having basic values and standing on them. It is having a clear view of reality, seeing the truth about ourselves. It is a realistic sense of one's position in relation to God and to other people." It means I am 'human' and no better or worse than other human beings.....it also allows me to seek out 'spiritual' connection with a Power greater than myself AS I UNDERSTAND IT.....

Step 7 has a prayer I can use.....
"Higher Power, I am now willing to totally give myself to you, the good and bad. I ask that you now remove from me every single defect of character which prevents me from being useful to you and to others. Grant me strength, as I go out to do your will".
