AA - Step 3

Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.

Well, this should be a fun discussion.

It is another late night - so I am going to start this and post more later on my thoughts around the subject.

Peace.

Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.

This step changed my life. I had said a third step prayer many times, but it never seemed to work.  From the BB, "the wording is quite optional so long as we expressed the idea, voicing it without reservation."

I was just saying the words, not voicing it without reservation. I can't really explain what happened one morning, but I said the same prayer as i had many times, but this time I surrendered. I truly meant the words that I was saying. The desire to drink left me that morning. I can't explain it other than I surrendered, I gave up and turned my will and life over to the care of God as I understood Him.

The very night before this happened to me I was at a meeting, pounding on a table, screaming "I want what all of you have, but I can't seem to get it. I keep praying and nothing is happening." I was angry, frustrated, and jealous of the serenity that these people had.

I gave up the next morning and my life hasn't been the same.
