Al-Anon Step 3

Hi everyone, good to see that the Al-Anon threads are a bit more active. I'll put up the topic again as I'm here. And maybe another time leave it for someone else to do.

quote:

From: Hope for Today - pg 20 - (copyright 2002, by Al-Anon Group Headquarters, Inc. Limited use by express written permission of Al-Anon Family Group Headquarters, Inc.)

"I have choices. I can skip my homework, stay out all night, sleep through the alarm, miss breakfast, get to school late, and doze through class - in which case I will miss out on many of my lessons and have to keep repeating them"

she was saying how surrender to a loving force of choice doesn't mean that there is no 'footwork' involved. It's kind of a different footwork I felt. Learning to use the tools of the programme in small ways to start with. The effort goes there instead of efforting with our work. I'm quite cynical usually. I thought there was 'nothing to lose' in giving these tools a go. Surprisingly they can actually help to put back structure into your life.

Hmmm. Still not entirely sure I belong here. I am cynical, too and also figure I have nothing to lose. Yes, I'm working. I am simple in that I believe that as long as I am actually changing, that it is good.

I like the idea that I do the footwork.  HP helps me with the thinkwork.
