Step 1 - Questions

- Are you powerless over a lot of what happens in your life?

- What specifically are you powerless about?

- What do you feel you have power over?

- Is your life unmanageable? In what ways?

-What makes it difficult for you to admit you are powerless? (Or: What makes it easy to do so?)

- What does it mean to you to feel powerless, to feel that your life is unmanageable?

Today I am powerless over this cold. I hate being sick. I don't have the energy to do what I normally do. I can't sleep well. It is frustrating.

Before recovery, I would have been a lot harder on myself. I would have pushed myself to the brink to try to get everything done, to try to stay on top of things. Fear and guilt would make me feel that letting myself be sick was not an option. My world would collapse if I let go.

Without the hope and strength that the next 11 steps bring, powerlessness would leave me a hopeless wreck. It was absolutely necessary for me to be a hopeless wreck, or I couldn't have accepted the help that the rest of the steps offered. Thank God they're there to pick up the pieces. Hugs, Magic

I'am powerless over alot of thing's that happen in my life, such thing's as being an alcoholic, being moody, death of loved ones, thing's not going the way I want them to,goverment taxes and the list could go on and on.But I feel I have power over most thing's that happen in my life.I have the courage to change the thing's that I can and the power to except the thing's I can't change, like goverment tax.
My life is no longer unmanagable because I have the power of AA to help me make the right choices in today's way of life.I remember when I first came to AA,I had no power over anything,it was easy for me to admit I was powerless because I knew if I did that would be the only way I could move forward it my sobriety.I knew that if I kept trying to manage what I couldn't for so many years that I would never move ahead.Today I'm thankful I was able to do that and start moving ahead right away.24 four hours at a time.

I have not posted on this board until now. I really need to work the steps.
I feel i am powerless over just about everything. I am moody, fearful, worrysom, andjust plain lost. I look towards my HP for his power. Just when i get the courage to let go and give him my powerlessness, i get nervous and try to take it back. Thrus providing me with emptiness and uncertainty. I thought I had this step taken care of a long time ago but i obviously need to go back to it again and again.
I have been reading the serenity Prayer alot and trying to break it down and relating it to my powerlessness and then my willingness to give it over to my HP.
