Step Nine - Share

Step Nine - Made direct amends to such people whereever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

When I did step eight with my sponsor, she encouraged me to put myself at the top pf the list. I put myself first each day - making sure I got my rest - ate rght - got enough excercise - took responsibility for my actions - and most important - forgave myself.

I had put my family thru a lot of heartache - not knowing for weeks at a time where I was or if I was ok. I tld them I couldn't change the past, but I was living better life and wanted and needed their support. Their love and support was not an issue - they had welcomed me back with open arms - no questions asked.

I was able to care for my Mom when our rolls were reversed and was able to help care for my brother during his last 2 years - so he could stay in his home. I was with each of them when they died ad my powerlessness at that time was very humbling.

I have been able to give love and care to other members of my family when it has been needed.

A few years ago I realized I owed amends to my ex-husband. I was able to talk to him before he died and tell him I was sorry for my part in the craziness in our lives. I don't know if he forgave me and that is not important - the amends was not for him - it was for me and I felt better.

Love you all - Dot
