Trying to understand this board

I'm not sure how this board works. Can anyone please explain it?

hi, Lanchas,

This board works this way:   it covers the actual 12 Steps, 12 Traditions, slogans, and prinicples, so that is what the topic always is. It is not chatty like the other boards, it is to learn the 12 Step program and to share our own experiences and thought about each Step. To keep it organized we go in order, first Step 1 is the topic.  Tradition 1 and a slogan can be added in if there is someone who has the time to do it.   Each Step has a little different emphasis in the various groups who use the 12 Steps,  AA, alanon, ACA, and alateen, and SLAA,, and we try to post an excerpt from each point of view.  This way a person who wants to find Step 3 and shares can find it pretty easily by scrolling back through the pages till s/he gets to the Step 3 section.  If we had it that anyone could post up any Step at any time, the posts on each Step get too scattered and it is very difficult to keep track. we have now reached Step 11 in the cycle, so Dot has posted the Step and an excerpt from the alanon perspective, and John will be putting up the AA perspective. Next will be the 12th Step, and then I think they will start the cycle again.

Does that answer your question ? Also read the sticky posts which remaing permanently the first posts on the board for information about how this board works.

I am very glad that you are hanging in there, and still getting resources.

love in recovery,

amanda

Amanda2u2,

It explained it some. Do you mean that a Step, Tradition, and slogan are posted and then people comment and share about them? Are there Steps, Traditions, and Slogans for alateen? Are there ever group discussions (like a meeting or something) about the Steps, Traditions, and slogans? Thanks for responding to my post.

yep, u got it, the Steps , traditions and slogans are posted up and people comment and share about them

Mostly there has only been a post or two about just the Steps,,,  though it could include the others too.

Dot and John put up the Steps,,, and then sometimes Dot puts up a separate post for people to write shares about the Step of the week. The Steps and traditions and slogans are really the essentially the same for all the groups, inclucing alateen.  The difference is just in having a slightly different experience if I am the alcoholic parent who is trying to recover, and when I am the child of an alcoholic trying to survive and grow up,, and when I am the spouse of an alcoholic and partner, or friend.

The discussions on this board are just like you and I are doing. Putting up a post with our thoughts and feelings about the Steps.

The meetings go on in the other chat rooms, and are often about the Steps or slogans, and are from the perspectives of each group. The AA group has meetings, and ACA group, and the CAS group all have their own meetings,, and the Steps can be topics at those. I don't know if the family teens group has been discussing the Steps there or not,, but it certainly can be done.

I am glad you are asking questions, and I hope that we are answering them in ways that help and encourage you.

Keep coming,, and keep reading the posts on the Steps that are being put up,, and you will catch on.

love in recovery,

amanda
