Step Eight - Al-Anon

Step Eight - Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.

In considering the Eighth Step, it is important to remember that, until we can take this Step in a spirit of self-love and healing, we may not be ready for it. Step Eight, like the other Steps, is a step toward healing. It is not about humilitating ourselves or making others feel better at our expense. It is about owning up tp what we have done and becoming willing to free ourselves from the guilt and shame our actions have caused us.

Please share your thoughts or questions on Step Eight.

Step Eight - My sponsor reminded me that the only action Step 8 required was to make a list - that's all. The rest was between me and my Higher Power. I needed to pray for the willingness to make the amends. I didn't need to know how I was going to do it - that comes in Step 9 - I only had to become entirely willing knowing that I was going to feel better.

Most of my list came early in my program, But it took 20 years for me to realize that I needed to make amends to the a.
