Alanon Tradition 7

Seventh Step (7)

Every Groups Ought to be Fully Self Supporting Declining outside Contributions

COURAGE TO CHANGE PAGE (251)

There is more to maintaining a fully self-supporting  Al Anon group than just paying the rent. Continuity of service  is important to our common welfare.  I will think about the contribution I am making to my home group..

I can support my group  in a number of ways.  When the basket is passed , I can give what I can,.  Just important , I can give my time and moral support to help make ours the knd of group I want to belong to.

My Share

Here I feel we are now being asked to  participate in  manintaining the alanon world world fellowship.   Since we have no managers and are a fellowship of equals,  we are all called on to offer our individual  talents to support the workings of our groups  We need to just keep showing up , using the alanon principles, caring for each other and showing  that this is how we recover and how the fellowship thrives.

I found the more I learned to support my group by : being the treasuer, literature person etc  or by just sitting and listening at a meeting and posting to the message Board the more self esteem I developed and the more serenity I felt.

This Tradition reminds me of another small tool that I can use to recover from the dreadful effects of this disease..

I would love to hear you thoughts

Betty

Tradition Seven Questions:

Do I volunteer for positions when Business Meetings are held?

Do I listen with an open mind when others are sharing or do I rehearse what I want to say?

Do I contribute financially if I am able?

Do I take alanon phone calls and over my ESH to members?

They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks...

But learned something this morning. I always

thought that step 7 was just about money- but

it is much more than that... we get to play our

part.

Mostly, I think we do get help 'at cost'- that is

mostly supplying groups with rooms to meet.

Passing the basket- and sharing the load of

responsibility- but doing it  o u r s e l v e s-

that is important.

Thanks Betty.   :>)
