5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

Self-honesty is the best policy.  While you're not trying to beat yourself up (as you are probably already well versed at that) you are trying to accept yourself and the includes accepting the exact nature of your wrongs.

But it's not just to yourself.  You need to let someone else know, to make it real, to make it stop being a secret.  And you must tell your Higher Power, so you can hand it off and move on.

Speak the truth and the truth shall set you free.
