Early Sobriety

Good Morning,

My name is Teresa, I'm an alcoholic and I have 2 days sober today. I don't feel too good, but it's 9:01 a.m. (pac time) and I'm writing this. I'm at a friend's apartment (the only friend I got left) detoxing. I have to pay my rent soon (yes, 11 days late with a penalty) and I hate my apartment. It's in a improvershed, low-income, crack invested, liquor store on every corner neighborhood. I've done most of my drinking and using there, and I'm real uneasy about going there today. I'm am sad at that fact.

Well, I just got through talking to another alcoholic and they will be escorting to my apartment today. I feel a little bit better.

I sure would appreciate input, support and suggestions.

Thank you

Hey Teresas,

Welcome. This is a healing place. We are always here to help you. The early days of sobriety can be tough. The mind is still in a fog. The motives for drinking are confused and still easily accessed. It is a dangerous time...You have reached out. You have decided to change your existance. This is courageous.

Now is the time to get to a meeting. Just go. It may be intimidating. It may seem threatening. But, you can step out of your old character and see a new way of living. Through AA and the Program there is hope and recovery. It is promised. You cannot do this alone. Call the local AA office for help. They will assist you in getting to meetings and supporting you. You areworth it...

Visit this board often. Feel the love and kindness. We are your cheerleaders. You are loved more than you know. Life does get better. Although the same old challenges are still there, the Program will show a way to handle the "Thinking." Keep coming back. Stick around for the miracle...

Blessings, JV.
