Step 11 Al Anon

Step 11 - Sought through prayer and mediation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood him, praying only for knowledge of his will for us and the power to carry that out.

One of the questions asked in Reaching For Personal Freedom is "in what ways does my self-will affect my ability to follow my higher powers will for me?

I have both a morning routine and an evening routine. Both routines involve me making conscious contact with my higher power. In the morning, I walk and I write and in both cases, I try to connect with my higher power asking for clarity on what the next right thing to do is. I have a very strong self will and so I work on compromise. I will turn something over, I'm willing to turn it over, but then I need a sign of what I need to do next. Sometimes those signs come from a daily reading, a random daily reading that is exactly what I need to hear. Sometimes that sign comes from a share at a meeting. Just this morning, while walking I began to go to a dark place in my head. I became aware and so began an ABC gratitude list. I believe that was my higher powers way of providing me the very next right thing to do.

My evening routine involves reading Just for Today and Just for Tonight along with a daily passage from the Al Anon phone app I have. I review my day and share with my higher power what might need some attention the next day.

I feel like my thoughts were all over the place on this share. Share with me, your step 11 practices and thoughts.

In gratitude,

Audrey

I too seek answers from my HP throughout the day, but do my prayers first thing in the morning, when I wake up.

It is funny, I learned that unless you seek/ask in order to learn/see then the signs and answers can elude one.
Al-Anon has helped me to understand what to look for and why.

My connection to HP definitely gives me peace, knowing I am never alone and that my well being is important.

Thank you for your service Audrey.

Thank you so much Debbie. One day at a time, I try to listen to see what my HP wants me to do next. Really appreciate your share :)

In gratitude

Audrey
