Step 4 Al Anon

Step 4 - Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

This step scared me the first time I faced it. I remember seeing a meme of a skeleton saying "come out, come out" I also knew that in step 5, I would be sharing my step 4 discoveries. Again, this scared me silly. Yet I had willingness. Somewhere in steps 1, 2, and 3, I had developed willingness. I wanted relief from the pain I came to Al Anon with. I was willing to do what it took to move forward. My first time through I used Blueprint for Progress. Something miraculous happened. I discovered I was not such a bad person after all. I learned that many of the character traits I had were developed when I was a child growing up in a very dysfunctional home and that they actually served me well back then. By the end of the book, I felt so much relief knowing I was not the horrible person I had come to believe I was.

Today, I work step 4 with my own sponsor the column way. In this way I'm able to pinpoint exactly what or who is troubling me =, identify the feelings and the defects of character present and get to work on them.

Who else would like to share on step 4?

In service,

Audrey
