hi, the posts of the Steps on-line are similar to the way it is in the books that the Steps are quoted from.  The books give the Step in a quote, for example, Step 1 is 'admitted that we were powerless over ____ and that our lives had become unmanageable'.  Then each book, the alanon one, the AA one, and the ACoA one give a chapter that is an explanation of what the Step means from that perspective, and what is to be accomplished on that Step. The accomplishment doesn't have to be perfect, but a good enough start on it to start building on it for a foundation to continue. For example, Step 2, a very important Step says,  'came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity' , doesn't mean to have a complete and perfect understanding, because our understanding deepens with time and is never perfect or complete,, but enough belief to ba able to do the next Step which is to 'turn our lives and our wills over to the care of God, as we understood Him'.

It is best to go to local face2face meetings for the full benefit of the program, but when we can't, we have to do the next best thing. For me, when I feel that I have read the Step and thought about it, and accomplished it enough to go ahead, then I do. Members usually cycle through the Steps periodically, so the next time we go through them we find that we learn still more. After a few years of cycling through the Steps many of us realize that each time we do more is revealed, and that recovery is a lifetime process.

We welcome shares on the STeps on this board, the ones we are currently on especially. And we welcome you to the board and hope you find the postings helpful. You can also ask questions of Dot through private messaging, and she will answer you as soon as she is able.

God bless you,

hi magsems welcome to the board . If you can't get to meetings maybe try to get hold of some of the books ? or just one book to start with will do , if you phone head office of where you live , they might recommend something you could read or the Library could order it . If you can't get them , then maybe just reading through other peoples shares might give you some idea of the programme . I don't think you have to be a wizz at computers , you managed to write that and that's all you need to do really ,
