The administrative structure can definitely look like alphabet soup when you are new to it. The state-level entity responsible for regulating and funding these programs is the office of services for individuals with developmental disabilities ,  commonly known as OPWDD. They set the guidelines that local providers must follow to ensure high-quality care. We work closely with Gateway, and their team was amazing at breaking down how these state regulations affect our specific services. They guided us through the enrollment steps and made sure we understood our rights under the state system. Having a knowledgeable provider to translate the bureaucracy makes the entire process infinitely easier to handle for families.
