Durable outdoor furniture for a rehab centre courtyard

I am helping set up a rehabilitation centre in the UK and we are finally getting around to furnishing the courtyard garden. Residents spend a lot of time outside, so the seating needs to be comfortable and built like a tank, nothing flimsy. How do I pick stuff that can handle constant use and still look calming?

For a rehab setting you want heavy, solid materials that can not be easily tipped over and that survive harsh cleaning products, think powder-coated aluminium frames with quick-dry foam cushions. Synthetic rattan looks nice but cheap versions crack under daily use within a season, so check the frame warranty carefully. A lot of UK garden furniture suppliers now cater to the commercial sector with collections that blend durability and a soothing aesthetic. I reckon you should order a single sample chair first and leave it in the busiest corner for two weeks. Better to find out if the leg glides scratch the floor or the armrest stains easily before buying twenty of them.
