I just don't understand addiction..

My husband went to a recovery center 2 weeks ago... he  seems to be doing really good and I'm so proud of him..
But, What after he gets out? will he go right back to drinking? will AA help once he's out? Shouldd I put our family back together? what is the cause of his drinking and pill taking? Did they help him get to the root of it?
Will out children grow up and become drunks?
Why am I having all the questions? He was drinking long before i met him and seem to get worse through the years until i left and he hit rock bottom and caled me for help. One more month the way he was going he wouold have been dead...

I love him and worry about him NOW.. I hated him and his drinking for the last year.. so, Why am I so worried about his reovery now?

What can I do , if anything to help him on his recovery and not be his main supporter and the person he leans on.. I can't make him better or have the shoulder he needs to leans on..
Sorry for the rant.. i just don't understand addiction and I am trying really hard..

THIS NOT AN EASY PROCESS, HOWEVER YOU MUST INFORM YOURSELF TO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DEALING WITH. ADDICTION IS ABIG WORD,AND THINGS OR PEOPLE DONT GET THAT WAY OR WELL OVER NIGHT. YOU CANT LOVE IT OUT OF APERSON OR BEAT IT OUT OF THEM. PEOPLE HAVE TO WANT IT; TO BE SOBER- CLEAN. IT REALLY TAKES WORK. MYSUGGESTION TO YOU IS TRY AL-ANON- EDUCATE YOUR SELF ABOUT THE DISEASE.
