Step 2 simplicity

When I first approached step 2, I thought it was telling me to define God. I went to calvary chapel, the catholic church, mormon church, jahova's witness, buddist, muslim, scientology etc etc. I was stuck on step 2. I was having great difficulty getting that diploma in  step 2-ology so i can go drink again.
Step 2 is a very simple step. Do I believe that if i call my sponsor, I can stay sober for the next hour? Yes! Do I believe that if I go to a meeting, I can stay sober for the next 2 hours? Yes! All I need is an open mind and i am on my way. I don't think i will ever complete this step until i take that long awaited dirt nap 6 feet below the ground.
My belief in a power greater than myself grows more each day that i am willing to surrender to the principals of this program. It's that simple. Now i can move onto step 3.

hi dan I too am a newbie, I believe in God, but try not to get caught up in religion, having reached the depths of despair I have reached, and the places I go to in my mind, I came to believe that there has to be a HP than me, because it simply was NOT possible for me to have the human strenght to come back from those places and survive, when I looked back on my life, and the many times I reached the edge, something, or someone, up there stopped me from tipping over, and I always managed to come back from the edge, I now believe that was my God,

I also believe that God is inside of us, not in the chapel, or the priest, or pastor, but inside of us, my belief is a personal one, based on my experiences, though I was raised a catholic, I try not to get caught up in the confusion or rules, etc etc, I do read my bible and find it as relevant today as it was all those years ago, it offers me guidance and comfort in what is and has always been a very confusing/conflicting world for me, hope this helps a bit.

Hi Dan

Great share on Step 2!!!  Keeping  it simple is what works for me.  I have been told and truly believe that this is a simple program for complicated people.  I can complicate counting to 12.

Thanks for your wisdom

Keep It Simple, Stupid. Alcoholic brains tend to overthink everything. There is no longer a need for me to do this. Simply stated, my insane brain cannot, and will not bring a cure. Only my HP can bring about the miracle I am clinging to.
