2. For our group purpose there is but one ultimate authority - a loving God as expressed in our group conscience. Our leaders are but trusted servants, they do not govern.

Read God as Higher Power.  IMO, this tradition says that we should be less concerned about the ultimate authority of the organizational structure and more concerned about fulfilling the mission of the organization and the steps.

Your interpretations are welcome.

 Any organisation that ACA has must be a real treasure-

Because adult children are re-actors rather than actors.

Also having difficulty with authority.

 

A lot of the time we do have to do a lot of things

on behalf of our Hp....

 

Maybe there are three types of authority in an organisation...

1. Delegated authority- duties handed on to people- mostly with some boundaries attached.

2. Elected Authority- maybe a contested position... with a set of

duties organised during the election.

3. Executive authority- where someone is allowed to take some initiative...

okay so long as no-one complains.

 

For me the most important thing is to have people around who listen... and consult.aww

I have been to more than a few Al-Anon meetings(no AC meetings where I live) I would deem as "sick." Leaders who govern, won't step down, when asked to step down STILL try to govern, personality conflicts, etc. But the one thing I see repeatedly is insisting on bringing Christianity into meetings, either directly, talking about church, "my savior", the bible, saying the lords prayer at closing; or indirectly. It is very frustrating. I have not seen anyone post as such here, so thank you!

I am glad to have one authority HP and not people who would eventually disappoint. It is hard to hear or see people who need control try to take a lead role in an Al-anon meeting, but atleast they are in the right place.
