ALANON TRADITION 8

TRADITION EIGHT 8

TRADITION EIGHT 8

Alanon Twelve Step Work Should remain forever Non-Professional but Our Service Centers May Employ Service Workers.

Courage to Change (Page 137)

We come together as a fellow ship of equals.  Where no one is in charge and no one is an expert.  Every member can contribute to the healing power of our program simply by sharing his or her personal story of experience, strength and hope.  No special training or qualification other than membership is necessary or desired.

Our program is a remarkable effective approach to recovery from the effects of someone elses drinking.

TODAY REMINDER

A wonderful nurturing atmosphere is created when people help other people by being themselves and sharing their own experiences.  I will contribute to this interchange today.

We meet as equals and help one another not because some are experts and others learners but because we all have needs and strengths.

My Share

What a beautiful affirmation and belief in our own abilities and program!!  No training program except for my life, as lived with an alcoholic.  My strength, as I have been  living the alanon program .  How powerful is this!!! Our great pain,   sadness , loss and fear did have a purpose .  In sharing and connecting with others who are travelling this path I grow spiritually   I can now also clearly identify with others who are living with or have lived with this disease and we can support each other as we recover..

Keeping  balance is essential--   Everyone can speak, and from these  shares our  true  inner true selves are revealed and we  help one another.  How I reach that inner voice is an experience in itself.

Tradition 8 questions

1.   described by the Traditions? If not, what needs changing?

2.   When I chat about any particular Tradition, do I realize how it affects others?

3.   Do I sometimes try to get some reward - even if not money - for my personal Alanon efforts

Love to hear your thoughts

This tradition is simple to understand...

I think in Alanon we use members as volunteers where we can.

The tradition says that we may employ service workers. I doubt

in New Zealand we have ever done that. But the option is there.
