ACoA Step 10

10. Continued to take personal inventory and, when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.

Now you're doing something different.  With this step, you're curbing the damage, addressing hurts as they happen before they have a chance to alter you or others worse.

My righteous indignation has receded since I have put this step into practice.  Even if what I said is correct, I acknowledge and apologize for the damage I cause by saying it.  This has been a major shift for me.

smile Thanks James. it's nice to sit on Step 10 once in a while. I did a step 9 last week- it came my way... I had to be gracious and humble.

This time with Step 10 I am not on edge. Not waiting for the other shoe to drop. I am ready and willing to change direction. I am grateful for being here, and learning to achieve balance. I am willing to accept guidance from outside of my own power base...

...and take what comes.

I notice that I apologize for things that aren't my fault, or had nothing to do with me. I say sorry thinking and feeling that I am to blame for everything that goes wrong in life. Step 10 tells me that I have to ask myself questions before saying sorry eg. Is it my fault? Why am I apologizing? Does it have anything to do with me?
