new to al-anon


I am new to al-anon and am not sure what kind of meeting i should be going to. I have a son who is treatment. Should I go to the beginner, step, discussion or the regular meeting.

I think you can go to any or all of those. There are not tight rules in that regard that I know of. You might try all of them and see which ones are best for you at this time.

You can also come to the online meetings. I am not sure when the specialized meetings are.  Speaking personally I get a lot of out of all of them.  I can imagine you also need a lot of support so please also post on the message board. That is like going to a meeting on some levels.

Hi, I also think any of the meetings will help you. I go to step meetings because they help me deal with all my problems  in everyday life and in living with an alcholic or problem drinker. I find a comfort in doing the steps 1 thru 12 in that order. It is great to know I am not in charge of the drinkers choices and I can work on me and my program.  I have found a new me in this program that I go to. I cant fix the alcholic but I can fix me.  welcome
