Step 1

I feel scared writing on the board about this step, I am taking a risk and being real, part of me is saying you know nothing, 11 years in recovery means that is a lie, why does my own mind work against me when I take risks. Step one for me is the start of getting honest. I am a recovering ACA and grateful to all who went before me and developed recovery tools for emotional sobriety. I am power less over alcoholism , I did'nt cause it and can't cure it but I can recover from it's effects by admitting it made me very I'll and my life became unmangeable.  That to me was the beginning. I love love love recovery, it excites me, heals me and makes me feel alive and connected to others.  Step one opens the door to recovery it is the acceptance step, accepting I have a problem that needs a 'we' solution.  together we recovery , I understand I cannot recover in isolation the first step takes me out of isolation and into the acceptance of other aCAs on the recovery path.
