Where Do I start?

Hello all,

I am brand new to al anon.  I have attended one ftf meeting and a few online meetings.  I have alcoholic parents and recently (within the past few months) began dating someone who has been in AA for nine months.  She seems solid right now, and I'm glad about that.  But I find myself obsessing a lot about it.  She originally said she wouldn't go to any Christmas parties this year because she didn't want to unnecessarily expose herself to drinking.  However, she said today that she had decided to go to this party afterall.  I don't want to worry about that, and I know I need help to get out of her business.  I've heard people say that al anon could help me do that, but I don't know where to start.  Could someone give me some guidance?  I feel desperate.  Thank you.

Hello Charmaine, welcome to Miracles in Progress. You have posted to a step work board where only a few people post as they are working through the steps. The main Al-Anon message board can be found at this web address

alanon.activeboard.com/forum.spark

It is here that you find the support that you are looking for from members who are attending Al-Anon meetings. I urge you to reregister at that board so as you can receive understanding and wisdom of the members.

Al-Anon face-to-face meetings are actually the best place for you to attend and get support. The literature, slogans, sponsors, meetings and the steps all work together to help us learn how to live life on life's terms. Keeping the focus on ourselves, living one day at a time, trusting the universe .life unfolds and we are given the courage serenity and wisdom to live. Please join us at the mainboard,
