Step 7

I believe this step is Humbly asked God to remove defects of charater or something of that nature.  I dont have a book to reference at the moment so I hope I am close!

Anyway, the key for me on this one was getting humble without feeling like I was sorry to be me. I was sorry for everything including breathing air when I finally found the rooms.   The dictionary definition of humble is as follows:

  1. Marked by meekness or modesty in behavior, attitude, or spirit; not arrogant or prideful.
  2. Showing deferential or submissive respect: a humble apology.

Having a good definition of my higher power as a loving and gentle god I was better able to show submissive respect when ASKING for Him to remove defects of character.  I try not to demand and be impatient although at times it seems I do the same dysfuntional behavior 100 times before I my higher power gets rid of it.....  That can be frustrating!  But still I have to look to that word HUMBLE and respect that all things happen in Gods time and not in mine.

hi, Carolyn,,,  welcome to the Step Work board!  and thank you very much for your thoughtful share.

We post up the Steps and an excerpt from the alanon book,  the ACoA book that we use, and the AA 12 X 12 book every two weeks.  Dot does alanon, and I do the AA and ACoA,,  so to find out what the Step is and says,,  click on Dot's post of the Step and mine.  Then we invite shares like yours, as at Step meetings.

I hope you continue to participate.

love in recovery,
