Concept 2 Al Anon

Concept 2 - The AlAnon Family Groups have delegated complete administrative and operational authority to their Conference and its service arms.

We are so fortunate to have no only the steps and traditions but we also have the twelve concepts of service. I'd like to share a quote out of the book Reaching For Personal Freedom, an Al Anon Conference Approved Literature:

"For some who have been affected by the disease of alcoholism, relying on others to complete an assigned job or task may be difficult. Lack of trust plays a part in our thinking that we must do everything ourselves, because no one else seems capable. Concept two reminds us that we can delegate certain responsibilities to others."

This was always me in the workplace. I trusted no one and so I took on way more than my fair share of the work. And then I began allowing others to take things on, recognizing that it was not up to me to judge if they did it right or wrong, good or bad. Today, my stress level is lower, my anxiety lower and my serenity greater as I continue to delegate in the workplace and allow others to do things their way.

Anyone else have a concept two story to share?

In gratitude,

Audrey

Oh boy Audrey! This is high-powered stuff...

...I latching onto Concept 4- for quite a while. [It is a epitome of our slogan: "Keep It Simple".]

I meditated on it- and found the deeper meaning- which I could apply every day. This bought a lot of healing.

But Concept 2- hmmm... delegating was just so so hard for me. I was the oldest of five kids. I was always

going to be ahead of the others by a few years, or more. I was not going to be there parent- though, god-willing they needed one, or two. So I often ended up doing things on my own- just so they would get done.

Not a good survival trait into adulthood!
