How to build a data science portfolio that gets noticed?

Hey folks, been grinding through Python and ML courses for a while, and I want to start putting together real projects that show what I can do, not just certificates. The tricky bit is figuring out what kind of work actually impresses hiring managers, and where to look for ideas beyond another Titanic tutorial. Anyone got a good handle on this?

The thing that moves the needle is showing you can take messy, real-world data and pull something useful from it, not just running a canned tutorial. A solid data science projects portfolio should mix a bit of cleaning, some NLP or forecasting, and one end-to-end pipeline from raw data to a working model. Pick one messy public dataset and clean it properly with clear documentation in a notebook, hiring managers care more about how you handle missing values than about your final accuracy score. A well-explained data prep stage often beats a flashy algorithm no one can follow.
