Greetings Julie Lynn,

Welcome to the MIP stepwork board.

Hope and pray that you find that person who can walk the journey of AlAnon recovery with you and guide you thru the Steps.

Keep coming back.

Blessings and Peace ~ Tahir.

Hi, I have seen posts by veteran members, and am curious why they are not responding to your request for a sponsor. Do we need a sponsor when working the steps online?

For me, I don't necessarily think so. I have worked the Steps in a Step Working Group even before I did it with my first Sponsor. And the program still worked for me then. I took the group as my Sponsor. However, some part of this Stepwork process like the Fifth Step, for instance, did require me to choose another member, preferably someone who has the experience of working the steps, to guide me. In a group setting, I have reached out to many members and gained from all of their experiences. But I must admit that the rewards of working the Steps under the guidance of a Sponsor is without parallel.

This is merely my experience. Might not necessarily be so for another. It has always helped me to remember that what does not work for me might actually be something that has saved another's life. So, there are different approaches, and the most important thing about them all is that they all work.

Only thing that the 12 step program of which I'm a part of suggests in this context is that I don't do it alone, all by myself. And I have confirmed it to be very true thru my own futile attempts. I realized that it is very difficult to find a solution to any problem by the same consciousness that created it (ME)

hi Julie and everyone welcome I don't know what Dot's policy is on finding sponsors here but I don't see anything wrong with asking around. As long as you're over 20. People that are under 20 need to contact their GP for a screened one. Wish you luck and fun finding the right person ,

Dear JulieLynn,

123 If worked properly with your Sponsor you should be ready to move on.

Step 4 made a searching and moral inventory of ourselves
Step 5 Admitted to God to Ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

Anytime I have worked my program whether it was A.A. from Step One to Step 12. Or A Spiritual Journey ( A work Guide for Healing) Christian Based 12 step book. Going to NA or Alanon. I have always had a Sponsor for A.A. guiding me through.

You can have a Sponsor, friend, Pastor, Minister, or Spiritual Advisor during the 5th Step listen to your step. It should be someone you are comfortable with and TRUST. You may never want to see the person again so that you can be totally honest HOLDING nothing back.

I always feel wonderful after I do a 4th and 5th because it is confession. I have stuffed and refused to Forgive someone I resent. God myself and another human being are the only ones present during the 5th step.

I wouldn't want to share it on-line for the world to see. I'll be praying for you to ask the right person to be you Sponsor. It is always a priveledge to Sponsor someone.

You are already following Gods Will he will continue to direct your path.

Love Blessed
